Thuir, chief town of the canton, heart of this Communauty of Communes of the Aspres, got a worldwide and cultural reputation thanks to, in particular, the CUSENIER Establishments, subsidiary company from the Pernod-Ricard Group.

The city have indispensable administrative and social structures at one's disposal : high school, small shops, companies, social units, specialised hospital, … and the associative and cultural life is there very dense… more than about fifty clubs work towards animating and developing their activities in the city.

Around this main centre, the 16 others communes (the most distant is only 25 kilometres away) form a very great viti-wine-growing entity, producing several renowned wines, and diversifying the professional channels bound to this activity. Some are registered in another schema of economic development, whether thanks to the setting of craft areas, or thanks to tourism.
